Gayle Nemelka’s Red Cabbage Recipe (according to Beth)
Slice red cabbage thin and cook in boiling salted water until nearly tender. Do not drain. Stir in flour sprinkled on top of boiling liquid–stir rapidly to prevent lumping. Add sugar and fresh lemon juice until desired taste of sweet & sour.

Fry bacon sections until crisp but not burned. Add grease and bacon to thickened cabbage.
